Empowering Roma and Egyptian communities through self-employment

Oct 30, 2025

Thanks to the Inclusive EduJobs Project Self-Employment Scheme and AKPA’s Self-Employment Program, members of the Roma and Egyptian communities in Albania have received concrete support to turn their ideas into functional and sustainable businesses.

Through the project, sub-grant implementing organizations have:

  • Supported 108 individuals in accessing government funding,

  • Trained 114 individuals in business management and development.

As a result, 30 new self-employment businesses have been established across four municipalities, spanning various economic sectors. These initiatives are fostering employment, financial independence, and hope within the communities.

These results show that with training, mentoring, and access to public support, self-employment can become a powerful pathway to social and economic empowerment.

The Inclusive EduJobs Project is implemented by the Open Society Foundation for Albania (OSFA), the Municipality of Tirana, and KMOP – Centre for Social Action and Innovation, and is funded by the European Union.
