The “EmpowerED Futures for Blended Education of Roma and Egyptian Communities” project, implemented by YVNO in the Municipality of Tirana, has successfully integrated digital tools and blended learning to support students from Roma and Egyptian communities.
At “Yzberisht” High School, students and teachers used ICT equipment such as smartboards and after-school learning sessions to create a school newspaper, accessible online: Read it here.
The project was implemented across the schools “Yzberisht”, “Androkli Kostallari”, and “John Buzuku”, engaging 323 students in after-school sessions and digital skills training. By strengthening digital competencies, preventing school dropout, and increasing parental participation, the project has created a sustainable model of blended education in Tirana’s public schools.
This initiative has brought new life to classrooms, integrating technology across all subjects and ensuring every student benefits equally. As one school highlighted:
“Our school has built a new teaching model where technology is a bridge, not an obstacle. Every day we see improvements toward a fairer and better quality education for all.”
The project is implemented by the Open Society Foundation for Albania (OSFA), the Municipality of Tirana, and KMOP – Centre for Social Action and Innovation, and is funded by the European Union.
